J-Dawgs Ringtone & Alert Maker™

What it is

Ringtone & Alert Maker is a small web app you open on your phone — no download from an app store, no install, no account. Open one of your own songs or recordings, drag two big handles to the moment you want, and it makes a ringtone (up to 30 seconds) or a short alert (2–5 seconds) from it.

Then — the part the other makers skip — it fixes the loudness. Most homemade ringtones fail in the real world because they're too quiet to hear outdoors, in a truck cab, or on a job site. This app levels your cut with compression and limiting to a measured peak of −1 dB below full scale, and shows you the before/after numbers from your actual audio. In the build audit, the test tone's loudness rose by 14.5 dB with the peak held at exactly −1.0 dB — measured, not promised.

When you buy it, you also get it as a single HTML file you can keep and run yourself. One payment of $3.99. Yours forever.

What it does

• Cut the moment — waveform with two 48-pixel drag handles (glove-friendly), plus keyboard nudging and exact numeric start/length entry, and a loop preview so the ringtone wraps cleanly
• Two jobs, first-class — Ringtone mode (up to 30 seconds) and Alert mode (2–5 seconds), with the length clamped and shown honestly
• Loudness fix built in — gain, compression/limiting, automatic fades, and a measured before/after table (peak and RMS) from your real file, not a generic "boost" slider
• Exports that are what they say — genuine 24-bit WAV and genuine 256 kbps MP3, proven byte-level at audit; the iPhone M4R export appears only where your browser can produce a real AAC encode, and otherwise stays disabled with the reason printed — never a renamed file
• Record it yourself — microphone recording in the same flow: your kid, your dog, your truck, trimmed and leveled like any other file
• Contact-ready naming + a session library — name a tone for a person ("Cheryl" becomes "Cheryl-alert.mp3") and keep this session's creations in one list
• Set-it guides that tell the truth — plain step-by-step Android and iPhone guides inside the app, written for the routes that actually work today
• Runs anywhere — in the browser on your phone, works fully offline after it loads, and as a single downloadable HTML file that's yours to keep. Your audio files never leave your phone — everything is processed in the browser

The honest limits — printed here and in the app

• A web app cannot set your phone's ringtone. That's an operating-system restriction on both Android and iPhone, and any app implying one-tap setting is glossing over it. This app makes the correct file and gives you the shortest true guide to set it.
• The iPhone M4R export needs a browser that can really encode AAC (WebCodecs — Chrome on Android class). Where that isn't available, the M4R button is disabled with the reason shown; WAV and MP3 exports work regardless.
• iPhone set-it steps depend on your iOS version and the Files/GarageBand route — the guide says which steps apply instead of promising a path that no longer exists.
• The loudness fix levels your cut to a measured ceiling; it can't add quality that isn't in the source recording, and a badly clipped source stays a badly clipped source — just a level one.
• Use audio you have the right to use. The app works on your own files, on your own phone, and nothing you open is uploaded or saved by us.
