Your code right now
Type your circle's secret phrase above and your code appears. Both sides of the call open this page, type the same phrase, and compare codes out loud.
How to use it on a real call
1. The caller says who they are and what's happening. You say: "Hang on — Voiceproof me." 2. Both of you open CallCode with the same secret. 3. One of you reads the 6 digits and the word; the other checks their screen. Match = the person holding the secret is on the line. No match, an old code, or "I can't do it right now" during a money emergency = hang up and call them back on the number you already have.
What it is: the shared secret plus the current 5-minute window go through HMAC-SHA-256 (the same class of math behind authenticator apps) right in your browser. The first bytes of that hash become the digits and the word. A scammer can clone a voice from seconds of audio; they cannot clone a secret that was never spoken on a recorded line.
Honest limits: both phones need roughly correct clocks (phones set their clocks automatically — fine). Anyone who learns the secret can pass, so treat it like a house key: if it leaks, agree on a new phrase. CallCode proves the caller holds the circle's secret; it does not prove they aren't being forced — that's what the duress word in the CodeWord Forge is for.
Privacy: this page makes no network calls with your secret. The math runs on your device; if you tick "remember," the phrase is stored only in this browser on this device.
